The Texas TrailFest Vision
A message from Event Directors Tammy Stanley & Alissa Magrum

The original vision for Texas TrailFest was born out of our awareness of a need for an outdoor event which would include mountain biking, trail running, hiking and other outdoor activities that would benefit a charitable cause.  There are many of these types of events for road biking, like the MS150, and many runs that benefit charity, but no event for the outdoor enthusiast, someone who prefers the trails and mother nature over running or biking on roads with cars whizzing past.  A way to come out and enjoy mother nature, go for a bike ride on the trails, hike in the woods or go for a nice trail run - all to benefit a great cause.  So TrailFest was conceived...Our first year had more of an emphasis on mountain biking, however we found that some of the people who came out to Rocky Hill were not mountain bikers, but they went for a walk, run or hike on the trails and enjoyed spending the weekend at Rocky Hill Ranch camping, listening to live music, watching the bike rodeo and other fun activities.  So we adjusted for last year and added 5K & 10K trail runs, a mini adventure race, a rock wall and obstacle course challenge...it was a huge hit and we had a great time!

The 3rd Annual Texas TrailFest Outdoor Adventure Festival will be our biggest and best ever! We will be in Zilker Park which will make it much more convenient to participate.  We will have something for everyone, adults & kids! Group bike rides, 5K Adventure Run & 'Round About 1K Fun Run/Walk, Rock Climbing Wall, a Bike Rodeo for the kids including the bike limbo, log pull and bike toss, Bike Obstacle Course to test your skills and the Pure Austin Obstacle Course Challenge for kids and adults. New for 2004, the TrailFest Adventure Quest Scavenger Hunt, the Zilker Park Bike Race and an expanded kid's activity area with a variety of fun-filled activities for the young and the young at heart! We will also have food vendors in the festival area with a variety of tasty treats!  Our event team is working hard to put together an awesome, adventurous day for all! Our motto for 2004 is "Exposing Austin to Adventure!"

In our first two years Texas TrailFest participants raised over $12,000 for Communities In Schools - Central Texas.

Come join in the fun, you will be glad you did!

peace, love & light to you and yours...
